After Three Number 1 Albums in the US, British Grammy-Nominated Singer-Songwriter Performs in Cheltenham
Bristol, UK - April 20th, 2012 - Award-winning vocalist and composer Becki Biggins will perform at Cheltenham's Daffodil restaurant for the first time this Monday 23rd April.
Becki has had three No. 1 US albums with co-writer Paul (N-n-n-Nineteen) Hardcastle, which have earned her the American Billboard Award for Best Smooth Jazz Artist and a Grammy Nomination. She also writes music with Lili Reinisch and Joe Stilgoe (son of 'Starlight Express' composer Richard).
Becki says of her American success, "Paul and I have such fun writing together, and we're delighted that our collaboration has had such an impact on an international scale."
Closer to home, Becki performed a sold-out show of her new material at the world renowned Pizza Express Jazz Club in Soho just last week. She was joined there by special guests Laurie Hollway (MD 'The Parkinson Show' and 'Strictly Come Dancing') and Barry Mason, who wrote 'The Last Waltz' and 'Delilah'. Becki has even received mentorship from legendary performer Rolf Harris.
"Rolf and I performed in the same charity show, and afterwards he offered to tell me some of the secrets he's learned about performing over the years. We sat down over a cup of tea, and chatted about what it's like to be onstage. It was surreal, and I was worried I'd have nothing to say, but I really enjoyed myself and learned a lot," says Becki.
Becki's will be joined by Daffodil regular Alex Steele on piano and fellow Bristolians Will Harris on bass, and Andy Tween on the drums.
Following two independently released albums of standards and three no. 1 Smooth Jazz albums, Becki's first album of original material is due for completion in late 2012.
